This event focuses on the excavation at the site of the Farmer's Hotel led by Texas Historical Commission Archeologist Jeff Durst and volunteers from the Houston Archeological Society.

The Farmer's Hotel was constructed around 1830 in the town's business district. In 1836, the hotel was burned with the rest of the village. Recent excavations have uncovered remnants of the structure's brick-lined basement.

Event activities will include the Farmer's Hotel excavation, field lab, exhibition of artifacts, and hands-on learning for children.

At 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., Project Historian Michael Moore will present "The Relationship of Archival and Archeological Discoveries at San Felipe de Austin."

Come out and observe the excavation and learn more about the history behind this building!
